Reading Terminal Market is one of the oldest and largest public markets in the US, first opened in 1893. Today, it stands out as one of the greatest public markets in the country. There is a variety of food stands with lots of different ethnic foods (and of course cheesesteaks!) and markets from largely locally owned, family-run stands.
Since we are just before the holidays, check out the holiday market right by city hall! Inspired by a German Holiday market there are cute little shops and great food!
Since we will be in old city it only makes sense to offer insight about the history here! Head over to see Independence Hall, The Liberty Bell and some other cool museums/ historical places (Ben Franklin's House) if you want to revisit the 1770s and high school U.S. history class!
It wouldn't be right to not have an ice cream recommendation (it doesn't matter that it might be cold out)! Right in the heart of Old City, visit Franklin Fountain for an old timey vibe and delicious ice cream
Visit Winterfest right on the river! Includes ice skating, fun activities, a lodge with a bar and S'mores pits! Just don't get injured ice skating- we need you dancing at the wedding!!
For those that have to have the Philly cheesesteak, head to the dueling cheesesteak places right across the street from each other! Bring friends and try from both places to let you know which one you like better! Guess which one the father of the bride likes better!
If you want to head into South Philly, check out the Miracle on 13th Street which is a residential street that goes ALL OUT with holiday decorations. The street is right next to East Passyunk which is a street/ area that is one of our favorite places to eat!
