We met after I joined a kickball league in DC that all his friends were on. We were introduced at a cider fest in DC and then later that day at H Street Country club when we were talking about music, I called him out when he pretended he knew who Reckless Kelly was and said he liked "her" music. For those of you that don't know, Reckless Kelly is an all male country group.
The Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque is a pretty big deal, and I wanted to go to the special shapes balloon glow. Unfortunately, the day turned out to be pretty windy, so I decided we shouldn't go because it was likely to get canceled. Josh insisted that we try anyway, which started setting off some alarm bells in my head. Well, we drove there and it did get canceled. We decided to go out to dinner instead in Old Town Albuquerque, and had a great dinner. After dinner, Josh asked me to go on a walk with him which was especially weird because our car was parked right outside the restaurant and it was FREEZING OUT. On the walk Josh says I had an extremely goofy smile on my face, because I clearly knew what was about to happen and couldn't contain myself. He kept me waiting, but finally he got down on one knee and asked me in the gazebo in Old Town!
We decided that even though we had to postpone our wedding due to COVID, we wanted to get married anyway! We went to the top of the Sandia Mountain and had a short little ceremony with a couple friends.
