Things To Do

Welcome to the Witch City! We moved to Salem from Boston in 2021 and have absolutely loved it here. We are excited for you to visit our home. Salem is located on the North Shore of Boston. Perhaps best known for the Salem Witch Trials, Salem was also home to author Nathaniel Hawthorne, birthplace of the National Guard, and site of the first long-distance phone call! If you have some extra time to spend, there is a lot to do and see here. The main pedestrian area on Essex Street just around the corner from our venue houses a number of shops, the Peabody Essex Museum, and the Old Town Hall. You might also stroll down to the water by Pickering Wharf. You might decide to take one of the many tours or to visit some of the well-known tourist attractions, such as the House of Seven Gables or the Witch House. There is too much to list, but we have included some sites of culture, as well as some food and drink below, but please do not hesitate to ask us if you are looking for suggestions.

Peabody Essex Museum

161 Essex Street, Salem, MA 01970

Located in the center of downtown Salem, the PEM houses a mix of maritime and Asian art and artifacts. Its exhibits change frequently so there is always something new to see. The PEM also includes several off site properties and historic buildings you will see around town.

Odd Meter Coffee Co

60 Washington Street, Salem, MA 01970

When we go out for coffee, this is the place we treat ourselves to. In addition to great coffee and excellent service, the owners care about their employees, the community, and the earth. Try one of their delicious seasonal lattes!

Pickering Wharf Marina

23 Congress Street, Salem, MA 01970

Right by the water. Several restaurants and shops to see. You will also see the Friendship, which is a large ship designated as part of the National Parks Service.

Deacon Giles Distillery

75 Canal Street, Salem, MA 01970

The name is based off of a story about a rum distiller who distilled spirits during Prohibition and sold bibles out of the front of shop. He was supposedly so cruel that his employees left him, and he unknowingly hired a crew of demons who were sent to teach him a lesson. The distillery has a bar called The Speakeasy Lab as well as an attached "tiki bar."

Notch Brewery & Tap Room - Salem

283R Derby Street, Salem, MA 01970

A great local brewery for Belgian/German-style beers along the water.

Bewitched Sculpture

Salem, MA 01970

Built to commemorate the filming of the seventh season of the iconic TV show, Bewitched, this statue is a favorite photo op for many tourists. The nearby restaurants (including Gulu Gulu Cafe and Flying Saucer Pizza) are great for a good bite, as well.

Old Town Hall

32 Derby Square, Salem, MA 01970

The old town is no longer used as a municipal building, but may be a familiar site for Hocus Pocus fans - this is where Dany and Max's parents danced the night away on Halloween and where Bette Midler performed the famous "I Put a Spell On You" scene.

Ropes Mansion and Garden

318 Essex Street, Salem, MA 01970

Another one for the Hocus Pocus fans out there - this is "Allison's house" from the movie. Every Halloween, the house is decorated in the style of the movie. If you are lucky, it might still be decked out with Halloween decor.

Bit Bar Salem

278 Derby Street, Salem, MA 01970

An arcade bar located on Derby Street in Downtown Salem

All Souls Lounge

282 Derby Street, Salem, MA 01970

A "lounge" style cocktail bar that serves creative grilled cheeses and hot dogs.

Far From The Tree

108 Jackson Street, Salem, MA 01970

A great local hard cider brewery in Salem. It is a bit of a walk from downtown, so if you aren't up for it, you might consider a ride share.

For all the days along the way
