How We Met

09/05/2014

It was a Friday evening. I (Lisa) was just getting off of work and was invited by a Bible study group at my college to go bowling. I was excited and we went to, Cloverleaf Bowling at Fremont. I was saying, “Hello” to everyone just minding my own business and watching people bowl. Then Dustin walks in and says, “hello” to me. We shook hands and I immediately fell head over heels for him. We decided to bowl together, and enjoyed getting to know each other. Towards the end I decided to make a move on Dustin because I could tell he was flirting with me but was nervous to ask for my phone number. I wasn’t sure if I’d ever see Dustin again so I decided to ask for his number! I used a very cheesy Christian pick up line. Yes, you read that correctly. A Christian pick up line. It was, “I was reading the book of Numbers, and realized I didn’t have yours.” Dustin laughed and gave me his number. From that moment on we couldn’t stop talking, and before you know it we became boyfriend and girlfriend!

Engagement

12/05/2014

It was late at night and rainy. I was wearing a maxi dress and Dustin took me to a Japanese restaurant. For some reason he was being kind of rude that day (he says it was on purpose to make me happy for the proposal. I don’t understand that, but anyways…) after dinner we went on a walk. Since it was December it was lit up everywhere with Christmas lights. He walked to me City Hall and proposed to me there.

Elopement Story

06/17/2015

Dustin was joining the military. We talked to the recruiter and since we were engaged; We asked if it was better get married before or after boot camp. He suggested before because then it makes it easier to get the insurance, housing, etc. Long story short Dustin needed a copy of his birth certificate from the county office so I (Lisa) asked Dustin, “Since we are going to City Hall to get your birth certificate. Why not just get married?” He agreed and we were off! I was wearing this random white dress I had with these ugly brown flats. Dustin was wearing a button down shirt, jeans and sneakers. We were at City Hall and filled out all the paperwork and paid for our license. Then we waited. My best friend, Emily came and met us last minute to be our witness and photographer. While we waited I was holding my fake flower bouquet; I looked at it and saw a huge roach! I screamed so loud and threw my bouquet at the ground and Dustin stomped at it. It was very embarrassing! We were both called in to do the ceremony and my friend, Emily used my (Lisa) phone and I (Lisa) forgot to turn off the sound so the whole time she was taking pictures you could hear it. Dustin and I tried so hard not to laugh. After we got married we celebrated at McDonalds and Dustin went to work the same day. I know what you’re thinking… that was the most romantic story ever!

Second proposal

02/14/2022

Dustin and I ever since we got married knew we would renew our vows on, 06/17/23. Dustin knew he would propose again closer to the time we were going to get married. I was getting nervous when he was going to do it because the time was getting closer and closer and nothing was happening. We went to Disneyland to celebrate Christopher’s 2nd birthday, with my mom and Diane. On the last day there that is when Dustin popped the question for a second time! I was so happy because I always dreamed of getting proposed to at Disneyland in front of the castle!
