Emily's Perspective: Dustin and I both attended UWG, and went to the Campus Outreach ministry on campus. While we had similar friends, I can't recall if we ever truly spoke. In September 2022, Dustin came to my mind when I saw he moved back to town. I texted my friend, Courtney, to see if Dustin wanted to attend our young adult ministry at church. Courtney told me he was back in town, but wasn't sure if he'd be interested in dating anyone and said he'd be single forever! LOL! Then, in September 2023, I was at our young adult ministry when a friend told me that some police officers were interested in being set up. I looked at the picture and instantly noticed Dustin in the photo. I was drawn to him, because I knew he loved Jesus. I told my friend I was interested in Dustin, but wasn't sure if anything would come of it. A few weeks later, Dustin reached out and we went on our first date to Buzzard's Coffee in Carrollton! The first date progressed into dinner, and we haven't stopped dating since!!! I QUICKLY fell in love with Dustin and knew I wanted to marry him!!! Dustin's Perspective: Emily and I both attended UWG and had a similar friend group! But, we never connected or hung out during that time. I moved to Alabama after college but moved back to Carrollton in September 2022. Immediately, everyone around began to set me up on dates with other friends--- one of them was Emily! I was still transitioning back to a new state and a new job, and wasn't quite ready to date. But, in late September, my Sergeant at work and his wife asked if I was interested in taking someone out on a date from a young adult ministry. My Sergeant showed me a photo, and I was immediately drawn to Emily!! I knew from other friends that she really loved Jesus and was really involved in church. I told my Sergeant's wife to let her know I was interested, but I was nervous to ask her out. I had to work the Carrollton Half Marathon coming up, and knew Emily would be running it so I planned to look out for her to say hey (which I did!) After a little pep talk from my co-worker, Billy (Groomsmen), I texted Emily and asked her to go to coffee. We ended up talking for hours and I don't even think I finished my coffee, lol! Coffee turned to dinner and I haven't stopped pursuing her since. I knew very early on that Emily was the woman I wanted to spend the rest of my life with!
