Well, not quite strangers, but close enough. One night, at Wake Forest's infamous Last Resort, Duncan decided he wanted to talk to someone new. He looked up, and there was Kathryn (or Kat depending on what you know her by). "That looks like a very important text" was the line he used to grab her attention from her phone, which she was using to locate some friends. Miraculously, this worked. As the night went on they continued to talk, drank mediocre cocktails and sang enthusiastically to Sweet Caroline. It didn't take long for them to realize how fun and easy it was to be in each others company. After some initial courting, Duncan's persistence paid off (but that's another story!). The two started dating in early 2017. When Kathryn graduated Wake Forest, the pair decided to continue dating and give long distance a try. They spent three years apart: Kathryn in New York and Duncan in Milwaukee. It wasn't until tumultuous 2020 that they were finally settled together at home in Brooklyn. Their little family grew when after only two weeks of living together Palmer was brought home! A few jobs, pandemics, and general chaos later, discussions of rings began to emerge. Kathryn asked to be surprised and Duncan rose to the occasion. On May 27th, 2023 in Shelter Harbor RI, Duncan managed to get all Wiebers to the beach and secretly fly in the Browns for a dramatic reveal. First he asked Kathryn to go for a walk, then he asked her to marry him. She gave a resounding yes, and both families were able to celebrate the occasion together. Next summer, It will be over 7 years since their story started. We are both so excited to share such a special day with you all, and can't wait to celebrate on 9/1/2024!
