Emily and Steven met through their dear friend, Pledger, who was Steven's fraternity brother and Emily's roommate at the time. Steven and Emily's friendship grew gradually over a couple years as Steven came up to visit Pledger in Sewanee. In October of 2020, the two clicked on a group Duck River "ca-brew-ing" trip when Steven helped Emily prepare the crew's campfire dinner. From that point on, Emily couldn't get this dashing prince out of her mind! About a year later, Steven moved up to Sewanee and she was delighted. Emily and Steven had their first "date" at Walmart to buy supplies for their Halloween costumes that fall. During the remarkably snowy Sewanee winter that followed they fell in love. Fast forward roughly a year after Steven's big move, the two decided to embark on a new adventure, living together! With their 3 cats, 3 newly-adopted dogs, a few rabbits and all the Cove Creek Farm pigs, they made their home on a farm in Tracy City. With incredibly supportive mentors behind them, their time on the farm continues to provide valuable learning opportunities and a chance to try their hand at different farming enterprises like gardening and keeping dairy goats. Emily and Steven also learned that experiencing the joys and challenges of farming together brings them closer and helps them grow in their partnership each day. In May of 2023 during Steven and Emily's first vacation "just for them," in Savannah, Steven had a trick up his sleeve. One morning, he woke up Emily with breakfast in bed insisting that they get out to Forsyth Park as soon as possible. It was a beautiful morning in the park! As they looked up at the Spanish moss, Steven got on one knee asked Emily "the question." The first celebration happened over lunch at Mrs. Wilkes' Restaurant, with a table of sweet friends they had never met before. That afternoon they announced the news to their friends and family over FaceTime with tears of joy, laughter and so much love. We are so excited to bring together our beloved friends and family members for our wedding in Monteagle this upcoming April. Spring is the most magical time up on the South Cumberland Plateau - the woods come alive with the bright colors of wildflowers and the first greens of the season. We can't wait for you to experience this special time with us as we celebrate our marriage.
