The Story of Us

From Merrimack to Married

Have you heard of the red string theory? It's a folklore belief that two people are meant for each other and have always been connected by an invisible red string. The string may stretch and tangle, but it in the end it never breaks, eventually bringing two people together. It was 2014 at Merrimack College when Morgan met Tommy. He was long boarding his way across campus when she noticed his genuine smile for the first time. For a while, their interactions were either a quick "hello" in the cafeteria, or a wave from across the Athletic Building between Track and Softball practices. It wasn't until Winter break of their Junior Year, when Morgan forgot to bring her work uniform home, that their paths would cross again. Knowing Tommy worked as a Building Manager and would have a key to get her into her locked dorm, she worked up the courage to text him asking if he could help. Of course, he agreed. The second he unlocked the door, Morgan quickly realized her uniform was no where to be found and now she was going to be late for work; SO embarrassing. While the attraction between the two was almost immediate, both Tommy and Morgan had some soul searching to do after college. Life would continue on but, the invisible string remained strong. It wouldn’t be until a few years later that, the string finally worked its magic to bring Morgan back into Tommy's life. And this time, she never left. After a series of coffee dates, plenty of flowers purchased, and a lot of breweries visited; Morgan and Tommy were officially dating. They spent their first Valentine’s Day in Portland, Maine and would eventually road trip all the way from Massachusetts to Florida, but their adventures were only just beginning! It was 2022 when Morgan and Tommy got their first apartment together, that they decided to make their best decision yet; adopt a puppy. Goose came into their lives and proved to be the best thing to ever happen to them. They set out to give Goose the house and backyard he deserved! The end of 2022 would bring Tommy and Morgan their first home and the yard they always wanted for Goose - not to mention, a thousand acre State Park just a few minutes down the road. After a couple of months settling into their new place, June of 2023 rolled around and Tommy asked Morgan if she wanted to take Goose for a walk at a “really cool new spot”. Thinking nothing of it, Morgan agreed and off they went. Morgan had no idea what would happen next. In the most perfect moment, with the sun poking through, the birds chirping, doing what they enjoyed most (walking Goose and exploring new trails), Tommy got down on one knee and asked Morgan to marry him. Too stunned to speak, she immediately nodded “yes!”. Obviously. The tears and love were abundantly clear. The invisible string between Tommy and Morgan may have stretched, and it may have tangled a bit along the way, but one thing is for sure, it never broke.
