We met in high school at La Salle, but we weren’t very close back then. Through mutual friends we reconnected after college in a DnD group. From there we became closer friends and eventually became roommates with two others in February of 2020. One month later we were locked in due to Covid, giving our friendship time to grow. We spent a lot of time together bonding over tv shows, video games, and our shared love of food and cooking. After we moved from that space, I asked him out and we started dating. It’s been going pretty well, you are reading this on our wedding website.
Alex planned a beautiful weekend starting at the Japanese Gardens in Portland, driving out to Seaside for some fun, then a nice dinner in Cannon Beach. While we were walking on the beach at sunset my hopes were up, and he said, “I have a surprise for you.” It was two miniature kites; I was very surprised. After a moderate amount of success getting them to fly, we kept walking… and walking… and a mile later, when we were almost back to Haystack Rock, he got down on one knee and proposed! The next day we went to Astoria for some more beach fun. On the way home, he suggested stopping by his parent’s house to say hi and pick up some mail. But the surprises weren’t over, he had planned a surprise engagement party with our immediate families. It was so thoughtful, and I was really surprised!
