Things To Do

We're so excited to share a few of our favorite places in the area with you:) Read the commentary on each spot! You won't be disappointed....

Eggleston's Glen

A short 3-mile round trip hike, take this hike to see where we've spent many a summer (and winter!) day. Be sure to slide down the little waterfall slide about 25 minutes from the start!

Watkins Glen

Watkins Glen, NY

Watkins Glen Gorge Trail is a MUST-DO - be careful - it's slippery and steep. Reward yourself afterwards with a stop at Ben & Jerry's in town. "This is BEAUTIFUL!" -Uncle Mike Meaney, who did this trail for the first time in 2023.

Miles Wine Cellars

168 Randall Crossing Road, Himrod, NY 14842

Ask for Evan - Drake and Carly had THE best wine tasting ever with him in February 2024. Very knowledgeable and thoughtful, gave a captivating history lesson - and was a generous pourer to boot! Be sure to ask about the spooky ghost story...

Weis Vineyards

10014 Day Road, Hammondsport, NY 14840

In our opinion - the best wine on Keuka Lake - and only 10 minutes from the cottage! About half of the Meaney family are wine club members here. Our favorite: Schulhaus (the cheap sweet stuff) Ali and Tori Weldy - this is the perfect spot for a wine selfie.

The Olney Place

823 East Lake Road, Penn Yan, NY 14527

A stone's throw from the cottage - Drake, Sarah, Andy and Pilar grew up walking here for an afternoon treat. Good breakfast. Solid spot for lunch and a beer (per local beer snob and Barrington County voter Thomas Meaney).

Keuka Lake Outlet Trail

Keuka Lake Outlet Trail, Penn Yan, NY 14527

Best enjoyed on a bike or on a run - trek through the woods and check out some waterfalls! 7 miles one way, but many areas to park car. Seneca Falls and Cascade Falls are the best.

Penn Yan Diner

131 East Elm Street, Penn Yan, NY 14527

Keep it simple stupid. No frills - just sit at the counter and watch the cook prepare the best pancakes ever right before your very eyes. The chocolate milk is just like Momma Meaney used to make - milk + Hershey's syrup + a good spoon stir = heaven.

Spotted Duck

999 New York 54, Penn Yan, NY 14527

Ever had a duck nibble your toe while you chowed down on ice cream? See peacocks, chickens, ducks, and so much more. Did I mention the ice cream is SUPER good? A personal favorite of Anna Meaney.

Crosswinds Farm & Creamery - Rock Stream Farm Shop

4721 New York 14A, Rock Stream, NY 14878

Moo-ve any other plans you've got - check out their cows AND their ice cream. If you're lucky the cows will be out - and if you're EXTRA lucky, they'll let you out back to say hello. Fair warning - it's quite muddy in the cow pasture.

767 E Lake Rd

767 East Lake Road, Penn Yan, NY 14527

The cottage. Stop by to say hello and check out our little yellow cottage on the lake. If you run into John Confer next door - be sure to congratulate him on Michigan's national championship - he's a big fan! Of Penn State....

Dr. Konstantin Frank Winery

9749 Middle Road, Hammondsport, NY 14840

The fancy Keuka Lake winery. (In our humble opinion, Weis is better and was started by Dr. Frank's former head winemaker). To settle the score, you may just have to try both!

Seneca Farms

2485 New York 54A, Penn Yan, NY 14527

Ice Cream in the front, fried chicken in the back. That's how that Billy Ray Cyrus song goes, right?! Michele Meaney's favorite ice cream spot (peanut butter or chocolate? Game over.) Ask Uncle Dave Meaney or Drake to tell you the story of the backseat ice cream spill inside job of 2015...

Amity Coffee Co.

3 Main Street, Penn Yan, NY 14527

Carly's favorite coffee spot in Penn Yan. Good vibes. Good plants. Good people.

Crispin Hill

2732 Wager Hill Road, Penn Yan, NY 14527

Wedding Venue. Sources say Uncle Yo Albert is planning to "make an entrance". Sources also say Grandma Meaney is planning to threaten Uncle Yo with no pie for a year if he "makes an entrance".

McGregor Vineyard

5503 Dutch Street, Dundee, NY 14837

A bit of a drive up a hill, but they will serve light food with your wine tasting.

Penn Yan Academy

305 Court Street, Penn Yan, NY 14527

Tennis anyone? The best tennis courts this side of the Erie Canal.

The Windmill Farm & Craft Market

3900 New York 14A, Penn Yan, NY 14527

Likely to be open Thursday July 4th and Saturday July 6th, The Windmill is host to over 175 indoor and outdoor shops filled with hand crafted items too numerous to count. You will discover great food, fresh produce, flowers, custom cabinetry, furniture, fashion, local wineries, artistry, gifts, micro brews, entertainment, and so much more. Saturdays are for the Windmill. Drake and Sarah grew up each getting $1 from Grandma Eggenweiler to spend at the Windmill. Tell the The Polish Princess that Drake recommended you - they may even give you an extra pierogi.

Oak Hill Bulk Foods, Inc.

3173 New York 14A, Penn Yan, NY 14527

Just up the road from the Windmill, Oak Hill is a wonderful spot to try some free samples and walk away with things you never knew you needed. Aunt Sue Amico is an avid fan of their ham hocks.

Glenn H Curtiss Museum

8419 New York 54, Hammondsport, NY 14840

Are you a fan of planes that don't fall apart (looking at you Boeing)? Look no further than the Glenn Curtis Museum, a hidden gem celebrating the early days of aviation. Said Carly Weldy, avid history buff, "I have never even heard of this place". Drake: "They parked a cargo plane out front - how could you miss it?" Carly: "Oh."

Corning Museum of Glass

1 Museum Way, Corning, NY 14830

Kids 17 and under get in free. 45 minutes away from the cottage. A glass museum might sound boring, but on our Top 5 list of coolest museums. Make your own glass - we have made frames and wind chimes - at the ages of 10 and 22!

Lakeside Country Club

145 Rt 54 E Lake Road, Penn Yan, NY 14527

The premier spot to get your 18 holes in. Don't go at 6:30AM, unless you want to see John Confer already on the 4th hole. According to sources, Thomas Meaney holds the course record for highest scoring round (127 in 2011), with Rocco Fredo coming in a close second (125 in 2009 but hey! He went for a run that morning...).

Arrowhead Creek on Waneta Lake

46 New York 230, Dundee, NY 14837

Not the premier spot to get your 18 holes in, but it's cheap and decent. Don't go at 1PM, unless you want to see Andy Velazquez already on his 4th ball. According to sources, Carly Weldy holds the course record for highest scoring hole (22 strokes on Hole 9 in 2020).

The Switzerland Inn

14109 Keuka Village Road, Hammondsport, NY 14840

Waterfront dining at its okay-est. Decent food, good views, not a recommendation, more so just letting you know it's close and it's a thing.

Blue Heron Bakery

136 Water Street, Penn Yan, NY 14527

Small-town bakery with big-city flavor. A gem, the head baker is a croissant wizard (studied in Portland), but the olive ciabatta loaf is what Drake daydreams about. In other news, jk this isn't other news just wanted to state again for the people in the back: THE OLIVE CIABATTA LOAF IS *CHEF'S KISS*

Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital

418 North Main Street, Penn Yan, NY 14527

No Meaney vacation would be complete without a trip to Soldiers and Sailors! A running joke in the family, this hospital has seen everything from Dr. McDreamy warming Diane's achy-breaky heart, to a stubborn Uncle Dave Meaney getting dragged into the emergency department after a gardening accident.

Abandon Brewing Company

2994 Merritt Hill Road, Penn Yan, NY 14527

Lovely views and top-notch beer. Beer snobs Craig Meaney and Thomas Meaney approved.

Keuka Lake State Park

3560 Pepper Road, Keuka Park, NY 14478

A nice spot for a hike lakeside!

For all the days along the way
