Istanbul

The Wedding Website of Doug Kent and Ayse Kuzucuoglu
Istanbul was the Capital of three empires and countless cultures, a bridge between east and west, at least two millennia old and yet thrillingly modern. From the mid-5th century to the early 13th century, Istanbul (known as Constantinople) was the largest and wealthiest city in Europe. It was the capital city of the Roman/Byzantine Empire from 330 to 1453 AD. From 1453 to 1922 AD, it was the seat of the Ottoman Empire. The city's strategic position on the historic Silk Road, rail networks to Europe and the Middle East, and the only sea route between the Black Sea and the Mediterranean have produced a cosmopolitan populace. Today, with approximately 13 million yearly visitors, Istanbul is the world's fifth most popular tourist destination.
