How We Met

First comes school, then comes marriage

Dorian and I met my freshman year and his sophomore year of high school. It wasn't until homecoming night that we formally met only because we went to the dance together, just with different dates. Little did we know we were going to the dance with the wrong dates. We became acquaintances to then friends who would sit next to each other in history class. Then by the end of that school year we started dating. Here we are almost eight years later getting ready to get married.

The Proposal

Feb. 9th 2020

Since Dorian couldn't get Valentine's Day off we decided to have an early evening out. We went to have dinner at Angelo's Pizza Parlor which was the restaurant of our first date. We ordered a Musso Farm Pizza and some yummy Brooklyn rolls. I noticed that Dorian barely ate anything but I didn't suspect a thing and continued to take my time eating. Half way through dinner he said he was going to the bathroom but was really making sure everyone was in place for the proposal. We finished eating and I suggested taking a stroll down by the Riverwalk. As we exited Angelo's, I noticed a twin stroller that had blankets similar to our niece and nephew. I point the stroller out to Dorian and he tried to distract me because it really was our niece and nephew. I then notice his brother Derek and I kept telling him, "Dorian that's Derek!" He then proceeded to pretend to call Derek and have a fake conversation about how his brother conveniently getting pizza at the same time. Turns out it was too cold outside for the babies so Derek had to sneak inside to keep them warm. Dorian then covered my eyes and walked me toward the stairs where my family awaited with the posters saying "Christine will you marry me?" As we got closer to the spot, Dorian was so nervous he forgot to tell me there was stair so I fell on my knee. What made it worse is I couldn't stop laughing which made it harder for me to get up. Once I got back up he walked me to a heart made out of rose petals and candles. He shared some sweet words and got down on one knee to pop the question. I do have to mention that I was so surprised and ugly cried, hard. It is an amazing memory we will always cherish.
