Eddie and Dominique first met many years ago when they both attended Holmes Jr. High and were in the same English class. However, it wouldn’t be for another couple of years at Davis High School when their spark would ignite. Dominique had eyes for Eddie which turned into a quiet crush as they attended classes together. Though their social lives may not have overlapped, Dominique had a special place in her heart for Eddie that never wavered. She waited for the right time to make her move by orchestrating a get-together with mutual friends that she knew Eddie would be interested in attending during their Senior year in 2013. An opening at the beer pong table presented Dominique with an opportunity that she couldn’t pass up as she asked Eddie to be her partner to which he agreed to without hesitation. As the game progressed it was clear there was an unspoken chemistry that was effortless and passionate between the two. Little did they know they would be more than just beer pong partners. After a few lunch dates, Eddie knew there was something special between him and Dominique. He went on to ask her to be his date to Prom and shortly after they became "Facebook official." Unfortunately, both Eddie and Dominique knew their high school love would end after the summer was over when they would be attending different colleges. They loved being together despite the impending end. In August, they heartbrokenly said goodbye to one another as they embarked on their respective college journeys. They believed it was the logical thing to do. Some things are inevitable. Some things are meant to happen. In our case, it was hard to function without one another. We started texting again after a few weeks and agreed to try out the “long-distance” relationship. We knew it would be a challenge, but it was nothing compared to the challenge of being apart. We said, "let’s at least try." Dominique quickly upgraded from the high school prom date to the committed hockey girlfriend, as she traveled to and from Davis to San Jose on weekends. We were so excited to see each other yet so sad to part until we thought, "why not have Dominique come to San Jose State?" We knew it would be a challenge, but we'd at least try. They say love is enduring. Dominique was willing to put up with the smell of hockey gear and live in the Hockey House to be with Eddie. That’s true love. Some things are meant to happen and others take a lot of work and commitment. Eddie and Dominique went on to graduate from San Jose State together and start their professional careers. And at last, Eddie proposed to Dominique, and she said, "YES!!" We hope you'll join us on our special day, as we start a new chapter in our continued journey together on 5/31/25.
