Lizzie and her sister, Caroline, were at a friend's backyard gathering one August evening, when Lizzie noticed her dear friend (and bridesmaid), Sarah Rocko. Lizzie went over to say hello to her while Sarah happened to be catching up with her cute friend, Dominic. Sarah kindly introduced Lizzie and Caroline to Dom and the group exchanged stories about Ohio after realizing they all have family from Dom's favorite state. Fast forward a few weeks; Dom and Lizzie (and Caroline) met again at Sarah Rocko's birthday celebration at Piedmont Park. Lizzie was impressed that Dom remembered details about her life as a nurse and family from Ohio. Dom made a move at the end of the party when he realized Lizzie and Caroline accidentally parked their car on the opposite side of the park. He offered to drive the girls back to their car. After all, they shouldn't be walking in the city at night. Shortly after Dom's chivalrous offer in the park, Dom took Lizzie to a wonderful sushi dinner!

After talking with her family and purchasing the ring (with help from Lizzie's siblings Alex & Caroline), Dom picked up Lizzie after work on a Monday and drove them to the site of their second date: the Indian Seats at Sawnee Mountain Preserve. Dom subtly checked to ensure the ring was in his backpack no fewer than 20 times at the base of the mountain and during the hike to the top. While they watched the sunset, Lizzie casually mentioned that she *loved* their date up there all those months ago and Dom patiently waited until the other hikers had left the peak. As it grew dark, Dom finally suggested they should get going to Lizzie's parent's house for their planned dinner - which led Lizzie to believe Dom wasn't using the moment to propose as she had secretly hoped. When she had her back turned to start the trek back down the mountain, Dom told her he loved their second date too - and she turned around to find him on a knee. The most impressive part? Lizzie confided in Dominic later that night that when she awoke earlier that morning, her first thought was "Wow, I really hope I get engaged soon!" Call it instinct. Call it opportune timing. Either way, it was definitely some Georgia Tech-level thinking.
