Fun for history buffs -- built as a home for Napoleon when he was sent into exile (clearly, he blew that decision). But also -- great Bloody Marys and Muffalettas, and home of the original NOLA-style pimm's cup!
Counter dining. Incredible, fluffy omelets. Los Angelenos, think a NOLA version of Apple Pan, but for brunch.
Casual dining if you're looking for a Po Boy and a beer. Could be where KD had her first Abita? Who knows! Get the stuffed artichoke!
Great breakfast spot. Likely will be a line for a table, so get there early.
Former home of William Faulkner, turned bookstore in the French Quarter. Very fun to talk with the people who work there -- they'll tell you every/anything you ever wanted to know about Billy F.
If you love WW2 history like me (Dave, obviously), worth a visit. Great way to kill a couple hours, learn a few things, and get out of the NOLA heat.
One of the few iconic tourist stops that live up to the hype. Skip the to-go line, grab a seat, and enjoy a beignet and a coffee. Great people watching too!
Classic NOLA dishes and beer from chalices! Fun place to watch a game, have a beer/meal, and take a load off.
Fun music venue! Never know who or what you're going to see, but always a good time.
Some cool collections here!
Best pizza in the city!
Very cool hotel with a vibey bar that we love!
Hoooo boy! It's Katherine's favorite PoBoy!
Home of the ORIGINAL Muffuletta! Absolutely delicious.
Quirky but upscale Louisiana dining.
A total dive with a great balcony to people-watch on Magazine Street. Is THIS where KD had her first Abita?!? My money's on Balcony Bar...
Casual spot for NOLA classics
One of the best, most special fine dining restaurants in the city. The absolute best time to come is Friday during lunchtime, and make sure you sit downstairs. Seriously, do not let them play you like a tourist seat you upstairs!
This is one of the oldest bars in America -- it has been around since the 1700s.
Like Galatoire's, one of the best fine-dining establishments in the city. We recommend the jazz brunch!
Hooooo ball! It's Katherine's favorite sno-ball!
Bar where the Sazerac was invented, naturally...
Katherine's second favorite Po-Boy
Jazz that'll knock your socks off. Unless you're wearing loafers, in which case it'll knock your loafers off!
Fantastic breakfast sandwiches. We love this funky, cute area (The Fairgrounds).
Fantastic street to take a stroll down -- great shopping, lots of galleries and coffee shops, and fun bars/restaurants to pop into.
A lovely place to take a walk.
This is a very good zoo, if you need a break from eating.
An expansive, beautiful park, home to the Louisiana Children's Museum and the New Orleans Museum of Art.
Do yourself a favor and visit ANY cemetery.
There are a lot of locations of Dat Dog, all are great -- you can get a variety of very interesting and delicious hot dogs here, including alligator! Perfect for late night snacks.
Katherine does not endorse this recommendation. Sam Brand, however, loves the char-grilled oysters and suggests you sit down at the bar and watch the "flames lick the sky." Dave Brand is pretty indifferent.
Fun, perpetually Christmas-themed, dive bar if you're interested in drinking 6 Miller High Lifes for $10.
Is THIIIIS where KD had her first Abita? Definitely in the running. Young, local hang out near the Columns.
Low-key wine bar near the Columns. Great french fries and patio!
You guessed it! Another bar. Casual neighborhood hang-out.
French Quarter dive bar. It's gross. But sometimes gross is fun!?!
Katherine's dad's favorite fried chicken. Yes, it's in a gas station. Yes, it's delicious.
Bagels, bagels, bagels! Downstairs at the Henrietta hotel.
Wine bar with great bites and great live music!
Local coffee shop with multiple locations. Great merch, and a good place to sit and do some work.
Great record store to peruse!
Funky coffee shop on Magazine St. that serves beignets!
Cute single-screen neighborhood movie theater. No clue what will be showing, but a great escape from the heat.
Coffee shop in a giant, old bank. Great place to escape the heat and/or do a little work.
"Creole Taqueria" with multiple locations.
Jazz! Jazz! Jazz!
