Things To Do

Northern Virginia is located just minutes from Washington, D.C. and Maryland. In addition to some traditional sightseeing activities, we have also included a few activities that are special to us. There are far too many great activities to list. More ideas for your trip, including The National Children’s Museum, tours of the Capitol building, Ford’s Theatre, The White House (obviously), Arlington National Cemetery, The Library of Congress, and so much more, can be found at washington.org and virginia.org.
The National Mall

The National Mall

Washington, DC

Known as "America's Front Yard," The National Mall is home to several iconic monuments, memorials, and attractions; visiting The Mall is the quintessential D.C. sightseeing experience. The Lincoln Memorial, which is located directly across from the Washington Monument and separated by the Reflecting Pool, was the site of our engagement pictures!

Smithsonian Museums & Galleries

Smithsonian Museums & Galleries

The Smithsonian Institution offers a number of museums & attractions in & around Washington, D.C., including the Air & Space Museum, American History Museum, Freer Gallery of Art, & much, much more. The best part? They are all free!

Catch a game at Nats Park, home of the 2019 World Series Champions! We have spent several sunny weekend afternoons with friends and family here and can confirm that the drinks, snacks, and views are always top-notch.

The Kennedy Center

The Kennedy Center

Washington, DC

If you love the performing arts like we do, book a ticket to see a show while you're in town. You won't regret it.

The National Zoo

The National Zoo

Washington, DC

The site of our very first date in August 2015, The National Zoo is home to more than 2,000 animals, including some of the planet’s most critically endangered species. The Zoo leads the Smithsonian's global efforts to save species, & is a fantastic, fun, educational, & free activity for all.
