Diane and Cam became loosely aware of each other's existence some time in maybe like 2003 or 2004 or so. Nobody knows for sure. They most likely came into contact during their time in the 4th grade together at White Oaks Elementary School. But they did not really notice each other. Cam was too busy tearing it up on the soccer field during recess. Diane was too busy drawing kittens. Sparks did not fly when they met. It just sorta happened.

In 2007, Diane and Cam entered middle school together at Robinson Secondary School. Since their unremarkable aquaintance-making in the 4th grade, Cam had developed a crush on the pretty girl with blue eyes that liked video games. Diane, meanwhile, was much more into Invader Zim than she was into Cam. So, they remained apart all through middle school. By the time they had entered their final year of high school, Cam had all but forgotten his young crush on Diane. Diane, meanwhile, had not forgotten any of her favorite lines from Invader Zim.

Over the Summer of 2011, Cam's Senior Year class schedule was mishandled. He was placed in a math class during the period in which he ought to have had guitar. But for once, the ineptitude of public school administrative staff proved to be beneficial. He had been placed in the same class as Diane. In fact, they had been placed at the very same table. Unlike in Elementary School or Middle School, they hit it off immediately. They bonded over a shared love of fried foods, early aughts Nicktoons, and sleep. In October, Cam shot Diane's old minivan full of nerf darts, upon each of which he wrote "Homecoming?" They attended Homecoming together. She wore a beautiful dress that was some sort of weird bronzish color that was impossible to find a tie to match. He wore the best ensemble he could put together. Soon after, they were officially dating. The Spring of 2012 brought college decisions. Two or three minutes after receiving her acceptance letter, Diane decided to attend the University of Virginia. Cam hemmed and hawed for a month, before finally, on the eve of decision deadline day, deciding to attend UVA as well, so that he could be with the girl he loved. Then the next day he changed his mind, and ended up 3000 miles away at the University of Southern California.

Cam and Diane spent four years separated by an entire continent and three time zones. Cam visited his home state periodically, but the couple still regularly went months without seeing each other. They got by on daily phone calls, care packages, and many nights spent playing Guild Wars 2 together into the early morning. In 2016, Cam graduated from USC and returned home to Northern Virginia. Diane stayed at UVA for a fifth year Masters. Although they remained separated by a 2 hour drive, they were able to see each other ten times as often as they had throughout Undergrad. More importantly, Cam now had access to Bodo's Bagels on a weekly basis.

Soon after Diane's graduation, she moved in with Cam in Vienna, VA. In 2017, Cam once again shot Diane's old high school minivan full of nerf darts. This time they all said "Marry Me?" She said yes.
