Flight
Google Flights is a great one-stop-shop to track flight prices and find competitive deals from any location in the world. If you are visiting multiple countries during your travels, we recommend looking into one way tickets in and out of the places you plan to visit. Some countries can be cheaper to fly into or out of!

Travel Note
Vouliagmeni is a beautiful seaside suburb and our personal favorite town, just a short trip from Vari, where our wedding will take place. From gorgeous beaches to stunning views, Vouliagmeni is a must-visit during your stay. As you approach this coastal town, you'll notice local palm trees lining the streets, welcoming you to a place rich with options, inclusive of beaches, lakes, gourmet restaurants and stunning natural landscapes. Whether you’re looking to relax, explore, or indulge, Vouliagmeni has something for everyone. Glyfada is a wonderful and vibrant town along the coast, well known for its shopping. You can walk on and on, popping in and out of local boutiques, cigar bars, and art galleries. There are no shortage of options when it comes to cafes and restaurants that we’re sure you’ll love, both trendy and traditional. Another great aspect is that it is home to one of the few golf courses in all of Greece! Top that off with its lovely beaches and it’s surely a great place to spend your time.

Palaio Faliro (also goes by Paleo Faliro) is a wonderful neighborhood in Athens close to the water and walking distance to a beautiful marina, where you can see lines of boats and yachts anchored in the bay. This neighborhood is also conveniently located close to the main highway which allows you to drive along the coast to neighboring towns worth visiting. A great location that is walkable with many restaurant options and closest to the Plaka in comparison to our other recommendations with the exception being Monastiraki. Monastiraki is located at the heart of Athens and is one of Greece’s most historical neighborhoods. It is the home to several must-visit attractions including archeological wonders, endless local shops, souvenirs, and incredible food. This neighborhood combines with the Plaka, a neighborhood containing all of the same wonders. Incredibly walkable and a great place to stay or visit if you want to experience Athens for its unique charm and historical marvels. Please keep in mind that this is a little ways away from the coast so on the days you want to beach, you will need to plan accordingly!

A popular taxi app in Greece is FreeNow and a great alternative to Uber if Uber is not working well for you overseas. Whatever application you use, you will always have an official taxi as non-professional drivers without a taxi license are banned in Greece. In both Uber and FreeNow, the fare is paid and agreed upon within the app. You can always flag down a taxi if you would like but it may be hard to secure a taxi this way and you will be subject to a running meter, which could lead to higher prices. Please be mindful and prepare to be patient within areas that have a lot of foot traffic as many people will be requesting all at once. It is advised to request a taxi ahead of time.

There are many public transport options in and around Athens such as the metro, buses, trams, and more. You can rely on public transport but tickets typically have to be purchased beforehand. Metro stations have a ticket machine with options for English (and other languages) for ease of navigation. Purchased tickets are valid for the tram, bus and metro. Public transport typically runs from 5:00AM-12:30AM (5:00-00:30) and timetables can be checked online. Car rentals give you the freedom to drive along the coast to various towns and beaches at your own leisure. However, please keep in mind that traffic and parking can be quite the obstacle at times. If you do not plan to travel outside of Athens a lot, a car rental may not be necessary.
