We met teaching on Sundays at Temple Beth Shalom's Religious School. Asher was studying Music Composition at The University of Texas and I had just moved to Austin to begin my Master's in Social Work (also at UT). We were smiley acquaintances, then friends, then I began offering to pick him up on my drive to Sunday School each week. We started going to dinner and hanging out more and more. Still friends, we danced around the idea of actually dating. Once we started dating, it quickly escalated; partially because of COVID and quarantining together. Our puppy, June, entered my life around the same time (Feb 2020) and Asher was an amazing dog-dad watching her for me while I continued to work on-site in mental health. We knew very early on that we were going to spend our lives together and we can't wait to safely celebrate with our friends and family in 2022!
We were so fortunate to receive a beautiful diamond from my Grandma Felicia that my Grandpa Eric had gifted her for their 50th wedding anniversary. We got an unanimous response to sharing our plans to get engaged from our families, all saying “Amazing! Why wait?”. Asher and I went together, with the stone, to a jeweler in Austin to design the ring. Then, Asher began planning how he wanted to propose with it. He had plans for us to have a weekend staycation downtown with a fancy dinner to celebrate. After talking to my parents one afternoon, Asher couldn’t wait another whole month until asking. That night, while we were cooking dinner together (me watching Asher cook), he was silent for a little too long. I turned around and he stated, “I’m doing it now” and got down on one knee (while June crunched her dinner next to him). He said very nice things that neither of us remember and I said “yes!” We finally got to fully enjoy the ring as engaged people, finished dinner, and called our families and friends. We loved sharing our excitement with you! We still went on our celebratory staycation and fancy dinner he had planned. Our friend, Tiffany, took the photos on this page that day. Thank you again, Tiff!
