Situated in the middle of the city and directly in front of La Parroquia de San Miguel Arcangel, El Jardin is the town square. Spend time here people watching, listening to wandering mariachis and getting your bearings before exploring the streets that lead away in all directions.
The crown jewel of San Miguel, this church was originally built in the 1600s with a traditional Mexican façade. However, Zeferino Gutierrez added a neo-Gothic façade in 1880 inspired by European churches. With its pink sandstone, La Parroquia is one of the most famous churches in Mexico and also a beautiful photograph at sunset.
This is the house where Mexican independence hero Ignacio Allende once lived. The building is also home to the town's history museum, which holds the history of the San Miguel area.

If you're staying a few days in San Miguel, we highly suggest checking out the Airbnb experiences offered in this city! There's so many cute ones including little walking tours, cooking classes, wine & tequila tastings and so on. We signed up for "Cook & Dine: Mole & Mexican Salsas" with Miguel who was quite simply the most wonderful human and outgoing chef I've ever met. It was truly an unforgettable experience and can't recommend it enough!

A MUST visit. When we visited San Miguel in September so many people recommended this place to us, but we were hesitant to stop in because it's... vegan! But wow, was it incredible. Located just a block from the center of town it's an easy spot to pop in for a quick taco and delicious margarita!
THE RESTAURANT is housed in one of San Miguel’s most elegantly colonial settings at Sollano 16. Offering a full bar, it serves lunch and dinner six days a week in a sun-dappled eighteenth century Moroccan courtyard, as well as in their elegant dining salon. On Thursdays, they do special burgers that are supposed to be the BEST in town! They also have a DJ that comes in later that night and a cool speakeasy type bar attached to the courtyard! Definitely one of our favorite places to eat. Reservations are highly encouraged.
