Devon and Ryan's love story began in April 2017. Devon had just moved to Orange County for work and was excited about the start of a new adventure in a new city. Little did she know, she was destined to meet her future husband and all-time favorite person, just one month later on Bumble, the infamous millennial dating app. Ryan was working and living in beautiful Newport Beach when he matched with Devon. The two formed an immediate connection and knew they had to meet in person. After their first date at The Boathouse Collective, the couple was inseparable. The more time they spent together, the more they realized how many friends they had in common so it was only a matter of time before their paths crossed!
Ryan spent Thanksgiving 2020 in Orange County with his family while Devon went to Phoenix to see her parents and Bubba. On Saturday, November 28th, Devon went to lunch with her parents and grandmother in Scottsdale and on their way back to the house, her father wanted to show her a shopping center. When they arrived, Devon’s father came around to her side of the car, grabbed her hand and said, “I have a surprise for you.” They started walking across the parking lot and there he was. Her Ryan. Ryan came around the corner of an SUV and Devon was in complete shock, her heart racing and also a bit confused what they were all doing at this random center! All Devon could think was, wow, Ryan is here! Devon was so happy she did not even care what they were about to do, all that mattered was that Ryan was there! It was then that Ryan and Devon got into an SUV and proceeded down the road to what Devon soon learned was the site for their hot air balloon ride. As they started to ascend in their private hot air balloon, Devon and Ryan felt like they were in their own fairytale. In those moments, all that mattered was that they were there together having one of the most magical experiences imaginable. They were basically flying! As they looked outside their hot air balloon basket, their pilot announced they had just reached top elevation of 4,500 feet. When Devon turned around, Ryan was down on one knee, holding the most beautiful ring Devon had ever seen. It was the easiest yes she had ever said. Ryan did it once again. He blew Devon away and literally swept her off her feet in a hot air balloon asking her to marry him.
