On September 6th, 2021, we met for the first time at the lake after being invited by our friend Stella to meet each other. In Stella’s words, it was to “see what happens”. After tubing, we hung out at Stella’s house for a bit and as we were walking to our cars, Devin asked if he could have my number. I said yes and we slowly started to text. Because we lived 45 minutes apart, there were not too many times to hang out and so Devin decided to ask me on a date after I visited his youth group. After youth group, I started to walk out with Stella and was greeted by Devin asking to go to his homecoming banquet with him before we even went on a date! After saying yes, we proceeded to go on our first date on October 2nd to good ‘Ol Applebees. After a lot of eating (from Devin) and lots of talking (from me), we went back to our homes thinking that the date went pretty well. This started a period of time of going on some dates, hanging out, and getting to know each other. After all of that, on January 1st, 2022, Devin asked me to be his girlfriend…and I said yes! After spending 6 months of dating and praying about what God had planned for us, we knew we were going to have to start long distance if we wanted to stay together. When I left for Ohio in August of 2022, we started the journey of long-distance dating. Through many highs and many lows, the Lord continued to bring us closer even through the trials of being separated. After going through 9 months of long distance, and a little over a year of dating, we realized that the Lord was calling us to come together in marriage. On June 30th of 2023, Devin asked me if I would marry him and I said yes! Devin and I started our final year of long-distance in August 2023 and we can't wait to never do long-distance again when we can join as one in marriage on July 12, 2024. We are so thankful for all of the family and friends that supported our relationship and our steps toward marriage and we can not wait to celebrate with you all on July 12th!
