As many of you know, both Devyn and Riley grew up in Southern California approximately an hour away from each other. They went to Knott's Berry Farm on the same day for middle school physics class, took high school trips to Disneyland around the same time, and they are both waiting to see the other person pop up in the background of a childhood photo one day. Despite their proximity, their paths never crossed... Until fate brought them both to Nashville. Devyn decided on a whim with a Uhaul packed ready to head to California that she was going to change directions, and Riley also made the uncharacteristically spontaneous decision to head to Nashville for a change of pace post COVID lockdown. The two had very different interests and hobbies and to be frank ran in very different circles, and the odds of them meeting were slim. But somehow on that fateful December day they went on their first date in the park (where Devyn thought she was going to get murdered and Riley thought he was going to catch COVID) and the rest was history. As they quickly got to know each other (they saw each other 6 out of the following 7 days) they found that they were very similar in core values and beliefs but couldn't be more different in personality and thought process. Over the next few months they quickly realized that those differences would challenge each other to compromise, learn from each other, and grow into balance. They have since moved back to their home state and are building a new life together. They are realizing every day more and more times that they could have been in the same place growing up and JUST missed each other... so their joke has become "going 2000 miles away from home to meet your soulmate who grew up next door feels like the chances of being struck by lightning."
