Our story began in Harvest, Alabama at Sparkman High School at the age of 14. We started out as friends who rode the same bus together every morning and every afternoon. Our conversations then were very similar to what they are about now….food, sports, cars, and family lol. We began dating on November 22, 2014, and yes, Detrick was the first to say “I love you.” Our journey continued through high school as we attended homecoming dances, junior/senior prom, football games, and The Debutante Ball together. We also had plenty of dates at Zaxbys and loved working together at TJ Maxx. Although we were not in the same city during the first year of college, we were reunited at The University of South Alabama during our second year. With already 3 years of dating under our belt, we were ready to conquer college together as well! He majored in Health Informatics and I chose Exercise Science with the hopes of becoming a Physical Therapist. I would help him with his science related classes and he would help me stay on track towards reaching my goals. Every now and then we like to quiz each other just to see what we can remember, and I can say that I am always impressed with how much Anatomy he still remembers lol. It was during these times of trials and tribulations in college that our love grew stronger. I would graduate in 2020 & Detrick would soon follow in 2021, Go Jags! Our relationship was once again tested when I moved to Birmingham to attend UAB’s DPT program. Although we were separated by 3 hours and a long drive down I-65, this did not stop us from being each other’s #1 support system. Whether it was surprising Detrick after landing a major job or me needing an arm or leg for my practicals; we were always there for each other. Some visits were as simple as watching our favorite shows together or cooking a Sunday meal. We soon figured out that little things were what mattered the most. This is one of the reasons we are here today. Ten years later and our love has not wavered, only drawn us closer together. Even to the point where we order the same food 95% of the time lol. On January 20th, 2023 Detrick got down on one knee and proposed, and I said “OF COURSE I WILL MARRY YOU!” and did one of my signature happy dances lol. You might even see some on the reception dance floor! We are excited to have you all join us in Chattanooga on January 25th as we continue to celebrate our love and journey!
