We can't wait to celebrate with you!

We first met in 2016 at West Point when I joined the Army women's basketball team as a practice player. We were just acquaintances at the time, but reconnected summer 2022 when Destinee got stationed to Oahu for internal medicine residency where I was already stationed. I had the biggest crush on Destinee at West Point so I reached out and offered for us to hang out and catch up. She then invited me out to Hana Koa Brewing with her residency friends. We sat next to each other and caught up over that dinner. It had been a while since I last saw her, but I just remember thinking about how beautiful she was. After that night, we hung out nearly every day for the next few months and our feelings for each other quickly began to grow.

After we had been dating for about a year, we both knew we were ready for the next step. September 16, 2023 Gerald planned a date night. I had suspicions he would pop the question by how nervous he was that day. He drove us up the the North Shore on Oahu to Turtle Bay Resort. He suggested we arrive early to walk along the beach during sunset. As we walked along the beach, I saw a photographer. I could sense it was coming. As we approached him, he told us that his clients would be arriving soon for a proposal and asked if we could take practice pictures before they arrived. I didn't want to at first and I started looking around for a different photographer. As we stood there for him to take a few pictures, I felt Gerald step away from me. As I looked at him, he was getting down on one knee and I realized the whole thing was a ploy and the photographer was waiting on us! I started squealing and jumping up and down. Then our friends came from the bushes to celebrate with us and we had dinner as a group at the resort.

We decided to have a small ceremony on March 16, 2024 with just our parents. We completed marriage counseling and saw no point in waiting. We are still so excited about our wedding celebration in November for an opportunity to see family and friends from both of our sides come together and celebrate with us! We can't wait to see you all!
