We first met while attending college together at the University of Florida through our involvement in a non-profit that works with middle & high-school students. It took a few years of hanging out with a group of mutual friends before we developed into good friends ourselves. We definitely butted heads often, but we were both too stubborn to ever give up on the friendship. After finishing college, we remained in touch and grew closer, even as Desiree moved to Washington, D.C. to attended law school. During Desiree’s first year, Spencer and his best friend Ian decided to take a trip to visit Desiree in D.C. Desiree refuses to admit it to this day, but Spencer is convinced that it was during this trip that romance first sparked between us. Shortly after this trip, Spencer embarked on a five month journey hiking the Appalachian Trail. Fresh out of the woods (and with the stench to prove it), Spencer made a detour on his way home to visit Desiree again in D.C. We hit it off, and that initial spark of romance began to grow into the love we have for one another today. We decided to start dating, even if it meant long-distance until Desiree finished law school. After Desiree graduated, we both moved to Miami and got to explore life in a new city together! After a few months of finally living in the same city, Spencer got an opportunity to pursue his dream career. The catch? He had to move to Texas until he became officially certified as an air traffic controller. No matter how far apart the world brought us, our hearts only grew closer together. When Spencer got the good news that he was approved to transfer to Miami, he couldn't wait to pop the question! Now, after over five years together, we can’t wait to tie the knot and start our happily ever after (together finally)!
