We interacted sporadically in a Facebook group for singles, and quickly learned we both shared a love for country Music. Desiree sent a private message to Jr in November of 2019 asking about the always anticipated Country Thunder music festival and wondered if he’d be going. In continuing their random chatter, they both realized how much they had in common; A love for the great outdoors, sports (although we are a house divided), spontaneous adventures, and of course quality time with family and friends. Jr met Desiree in person in January 2020 at a little corner bar in Queen Creek Arizona known as the "Queen Creek Cafe," which is sadly no longer in business. They shared an instant connection and while we'd like to say the rest is history, that wouldn't be entirely accurate. While Jr continued to pursue her relentlessly, Desiree was more focused on continuing in her independent ways. She wasn't ready to invite anyone new into her life and seemed completely content with her dog, her career, and enjoying homeownership. While she had prayed for a good man, she knew finding someone who had the patience to deal with her complex mind and heart would be a challenge and therefore, wasn't expecting what would later came to fruition. Perhaps she thought he was too good to be true and was waiting for the shoe to drop, or perhaps she was afraid of the distraction "new love" often brings. While Jr continued in his humble efforts to get closer, she continued to “go her own way” (she may have heard this Fleetwood Mac classic on repeat too many times as a kid-thanks to her mom who was and still is a huge Fleetwood Mac fan). It wasn't until Jr decided to give up on his tireless game of cat & mouse that Desiree realized what a special person/man he was and what she would truly be missing out on; someone that was persistent, patient, and knew exactly how to love her the way she had only dreamed of. While visiting Jr's family in California for the holiday's, Jr. proposed Christmas eve of 2021 - but not before getting her dad's blessing as this was extremely important to Desirée. Of course, she said YES! We've enjoyed having a long engagement as we continue to grow and learn in love, and are finally ready to seal the deal in the Wedding Capitol of the world! We have supported each other through the tough times, loved each other through the sad times, and celebrated in each of life's wins (big & small). We weren't looking for each other, and certainly had no idea what we were in for, but are grateful beyond words that God aligned our paths and brought us together. After all, Love is patient and kind. We have found a love in each other that has awakened our souls and we can’t wait for what our future holds.
