Dennis and I met almost 12 years ago on Match.com. Our first meeting was at Starbucks. He entered the front door, and it was an AHHHH moment as this bright light cascaded in with him and angels sang. It was like the heavens opened up and brought him to me. Actually, it was a car's headlights, but I like my story better. We dated for a few months and neither of us know why it ended. Even though we weren't together, I never stopped loving him. As the years passed, we always kept in touch. We would meet for lunch or dinner and text or talk on occasion. When he moved back from Tulsa, OK, I thought we might actually start dating again. I was wrong. Through moves, job changes, the kids growing up (we have 4), life kept moving on. I texted him one day, to say, “Hey, did you know that today would have been 10 years together”. I really meant to say, "Hey, you could have been loved for 10 years had you not run for the hills." Months after the text, a light bulb must have clicked on in his head. Not long after, he called and said. "Maybe we can meet for dinner". And that is all she wrote! We haven't been apart since. The man knows a good thing when he finds it, a second time. I have always known he was the one for me. It just took me 11 years to convince him. Please join us as we begin this next exciting adventure of love and life together. I can't wait!
My favorite date ever was when Dennis took me to the Mercer Arboretum. We had such a beautiful day of getting to know one another and looking at all the gorgeous plants. That was over 11 years ago. In March, he said we needed to go back. I was extremely nervous. He had been hinting about our future and I wondered, "Is he going to pop the question?" We went for a walk and he led me to a bench by a pond. Dennis then pulled out a box from his backpack and opened the box but just looked at me. It was a deer in the headlight's moment. I grabbed the ring and slid it on. Then I looked at him and said, "Oh, are you going to ask me?" and I clumsily put the ring back in the box. He got the words out and of course I said YES! But then I asked, "What do we do now?" So, we went to lunch and drank margaritas. Best day ever!
The wedding plans are almost done, and the countdown begins. We are planning a very small, intimate wedding with family and close friends. This is really hard. Since we both have homes, furniture and me, too much stuff, it is time to combine our lives. Have you met us? I love to decorate with art, pillows, books, plants and Dennis is a minimalist. So, I am selling my condo on Lake Conroe and moving in with him. This is going to really be an adventure. He is being so patient and kind. Dennis lets me bring one item at a time. LOL Two people in love and both very set in their ways. This is going to be very interesting, but I love a challenge. I just look to the future and know that I love this man with all my heart and can't wait to spend the rest of my life with him. I don't need stuff. I just need him. However, I also want to keep some of my stuff.
