Question

Hurricane Ida

Answer

New Orleans is recovering from Hurricane Ida and is largely intact. Unfortunately, some of our favorite places are not open yet (like the Central Grocery), but most had minimal damage. There are still plenty of things to see and do in the Quarter, Garden District, Canal Street, etc., etc.

Question

Has anything changed in light of COVID-19?

Answer

COVID-19 (the Delta/Omicron variants) and Hurricane Ida caused a bunch of problems with the initial and subsequent wedding dates; we are much more confident in the April 2022 date due to the volume of vaccines available and the easing of travel and occupancy restrictions. We understand if anyone is still leery of travel, and we don't want anyone to feel pressured. We still plan on live streaming the event on Facebook (we'll be creating an event and post the stream there).

Question

Will kids be able to attend?

Answer

Absolutely! Our reception is being hosted at the Parkview Terrace within City Park. There is a playground nearby the building. There is a good chance that we'll be playing there, too, after the ceremony. (Please don’t panic if your children aren’t listed when you RSVP. Our caterer only needs a count of children 12 or older. We promise that younger children are still welcome and there will be plenty of food for them!)

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

T-Rex costumes. If you don't have one, something clean, respectable, and comfortable. We're planning on April in New Orleans, so plan for about 80 degrees and humid.

Question

What's the after party?

Answer

To be determined, but we're leaning towards The Spotted Cat and/or d.b.a. on Frenchmen St. (at the far end of the French Quarter near the French Market). It will depend on what restrictions exist on safe public gatherings in New Orleans in September, but we're cautiously optimistic that we'll have lots of options.. If things are locked down, there is always the hotel.

Question

Where should we stay?

Answer

Matt booked the hotel blocks, so you should be safe. We'll be happy to tell you the backstory to this one. :) We have one remaining hotel room block available at Hotel Indigo in the Garden District and on the St. Charles trolley line - see the Travel page for booking info. FYI, it's $3 for a day pass that will cover all of your public transportation needs, so if you want to take a trolley down to the French Quarter, go for it. They are not 24-hour services, however, but taxis and Ubers are still available.

Question

When should we get to New Orleans?

Answer

We're planning on getting to Nola a few days in advance to take care of the last minute details. We'd like wedding party members to be there at least the day before the actual ceremony (the day of the rehearsal dinner). We'd like everyone to get a chance to meet each other and have a good time before the actual event - these may or may not be *low-key* bachelor/bachelorette parties.

Question

How should we get to the ceremony?

Answer

There is street parking available around the church for those driving. Lyft and Uber are everywhere in New Orleans. Walking is an option if you're a masochist. There is a possibility of a party bus and/or shuttles. Stay tuned for details.

Question

How should we get to the reception?

Answer

Same deal - Lyft, Uber, Walking, Party Bus, Horse-Drawn Carriage, Teleportation, etc.

Question

We're flying to New Orleans and are in the family and/or wedding party. Surely you have plans for us?

Answer

Indeed, we do. Since we'll be arriving early, our plan is to pick up people at the airport and take them to their hotel(s). We are looking into dedicated shuttle or other transportation options now. Since we plan to consume adult beverages, we would love to minimize the amount of driving after the reception.

Question

Are there any entertaining or embarrassing stories you can tell us before the ceremony?

Answer

"No." "Definitely not." Ask Deni.
