We met in February while we were both attending the University of Kentucky in the second semester of Freshman year. In fact, we actually met in November over a facetime call while a mutual friend of ours was on the phone. I saw him in the back, thought he was cute, and asked him to go to midnight pancakes with me over by my dorm. Unfortunately (or fortunately) that idea never panned out and we ended up going on our first date to get pizza at Mellow Mushroom in February. Funny story... so, Matt hates pineapple on pizza! But, I didn't know that as it was our first date. Well, that night I asked him if we could order Hawaiian pizza, and he said yes. It wasn't until later that he told me pineapples do not belong on pizza. It was at that point I knew he was a true gentleman and the rest was history!

Matt and I had planned to go to Lexington for the weekend and Keeneland with friends. Matt left early in the morning and said I would drive separately so I could pick up a present. Little did I know, when I drove into a random hotel parking lot, Matt had been planning all week for my parents and two best friends to surprise me there. We hopped in the car and drove to Keeneland. We tailgated on the hill with our friends and went into Keenland that afternoon for the horse races. Matt pulled me aside and said just the two of us would be leaving a little early to grab a bite to eat before meeting up with everyone else later. We went to Mellow Mushroom, which is the same spot we went to on our first date in 2017. After finishing up at dinner, we drove to the Campbell House where I noticed the photographer. At that point, I knew something was up. We started with some basic silly photos and then the next thing I know, Matt was on one knee when he said, "You are the only one I want to take pictures with for the rest of my life, will you marry me?". If that wasn't a big enough surprise, we walked into the Campbell House where behind closed doors, we were congratulated by all our closest family and friends. Overall, it couldn't have been a more perfect day!
