In June of 2022 Delaney went to Arizona for a bachelorette party to celebrate her best friend, Taylor, who was getting married to Thomas's cousin, Will. Delaney was sitting poolside with Thomas's cousin, who happened to be Will's sister, Claire. Claire said to her sister Della, "You know who Delaney should meet, Thomas!" Delaney knew of Thomas through high school sports since she went to Burlington-Edison and he went to Sedro-Woolley. She told Della and Claire that she was open to meeting him and Thomas seemed to agree. After coming back from Arizona, Taylor and her now sister-in-laws gathered their cousins for a night out in the valley and invited me along. Thomas and Delaney met for the first time that night and little did we know it wouldn't be the last time they spent time together. They continued to hangout the rest of the summer, planning crazy adventures and enjoying life. An idea that started off poolside in Arizona, at her best friend's bachelorette, ended in Thomas and Delaney getting engaged one year later in their hometown!

On their one year anniversary, Thomas told Delaney he was going to take her on an anniversary date. He told her, "Get all dolled up, but bring hiking gear." That sounded like typical Thomas so Delaney didn't question it one bit. That evening he picked her up and started heading up the mountain in his truck. 30 minutes later they pull up to a quad where he tells Delaney to get out of the car and hop on the quad with him. They make their way up to the top of the mountain where Delaney sees a dinner table and tent set up by Thomas and his family earlier that day. They shared a lovely dinner and shortly after dinner he dropped to one knee with Mt. Baker in the background and Skagit Valley off to the left and proposed. They spent the rest of the evening watching the sunset and camped at the top of the mountain. The next morning they woke up to watch the sunrise and begin their forever together!
