Preston and I met on a dating app called Coffee Meets Bagel. We chatted for a few days and decided to go get *you guessed it* coffee! I think we were both pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to talk to each other as we sat there for over three hours. Preston shared about a class he was taking at his church, and I talked about my counseling work and what led me to the field. We also laughed a lot! And have continued to laugh for the last two years! Preston has the indescribable capacity to make me laugh and joyful even on really hard days. I’m very excited for a life-time of that with him :)
When thinking of how to propose, I was reflecting back on some of our favorite dates and shared hobbies. I was stuck. I couldn't decide on which of our favorite things to incorporate so I went with "all of them." If we were going to do all of our favorite things in one very long day, she would expect a proposal that day early on. So why wait? I decided to just propose to her as soon as she walked into my house that morning. This way we could enjoy the whole day being engaged instead of the typical evening proposal. From about 8:30 am to 11:30 pm we spent the whole day engaged while revisiting years of our favorite and first dates.
