Garrett and Delaney's first date was at Ed's Tavern, a sports bar in Charlotte, to watch the Final Four games of March Madness. Delaney got there early (shocking) and grabbed one of the last coveted booths at Ed's. Once Garrett got there, they started chatting and ended up watching both games (4 hrs) before finally deciding to go home. Never ran out of things to talk about! Turns out Garrett and Delaney had a lot in common, including both being dog owners. On top of that, the dogs even had the SAME name - Miller. So now they have "The Millers" - Miller High Life and Miller Lite as they say. Or they call them the "Crazies" because they are in fact wild brothers that never stop playing. What are the odds! Weekends were then spent out on Lake Norman, taking little trips to hike with the dogs, getting together with friends, making homemade pizzas and, very much new to Delaney, attending NASCAR races. (Don't worry - she can now name all the drivers she's supposed to root for and who to root against. In fact, the night they met, Garrett informed Delaney of this list of drivers and in turn Delaney said, "Sounds fair. In that case, you also cannot root for Tennessee, Georgia or Florida State." Go Gators always!!) Fast forward to September 2023, Garrett proposed to Delaney in Gainesville, FL the night before the Florida v. UNC Charlotte football game - both of their alma maters! It was too perfect of a weekend to miss the opportunity, especially with both sides of the family there for the game. Delaney and Garrett are so excited about the life they are building together, surrounded by countless examples of loving marriages and lives well spent. Thank you for celebrating with them as they start this next chapter together!
