Coronavirus

Dearest friends and family, After a lot of thought and reflection, we have decided to modify our wedding plans per CDC guidelines to be a more intimate ceremony with just the two of us. Although we would love to share our wedding day with each and every one of you, we feel that it is not the responsible thing to do. We thank you all for your love and support throughout this process and we hope to celebrate our marriage with you this summer (more information to come later). We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or issues with your travel plans. If you had booked a room through our room block we will be contacting you in regards to cancelling your reservation if you so choose. We hope you all stay healthy and maintain safe social distances until this all passes. Love, Delaney and Bennet Delaney.pfohl@gmail.com (315) 436-3778

Our Love Story

Delaney and Bennet met online while she was in her final year of graduate school at Ithaca College, completing her Doctorate and he was living in Apalachin, working at Lockheed Martin. After conversing for a few weeks, they decided to meet in person. Their first date was planned for Saturday night but that afternoon, Delaney received a text message from him cancelling the date due to work. Delaney was persistent and the date was rescheduled for Sunday, October 2nd. Bennet had requested that Delaney choose the restaurant, so she chose The Boat Yard Grill in Ithaca, NY, known mainly for their seafood (Bennet had failed to mention his shellfish allergy). Bennet found it odd that Delaney was late, Delaney found it odd that he asked to share her meal. Before they knew it it was past 11 PM. They had walked around for hours getting to know each other, never running out of things to say. For the next seven months they took turns driving the hour to see the other until Delaney graduated in May 2017. But that didn't shorten the distance between them as she then spent 3 months in Houston, TX, completing her final clinical rotation. When she finished, Delaney moved in with Bennet in Apalachin and began working. They got into a routine and life was good. On December 14th, 2018, Bennet told Delaney that he had planned a surprise date. They got in the car and drove towards Ithaca and when they pulled into The Boat Yard Grill, Delaney thought nothing of it. They ate dinner and after Bennet insisted on going for a walk like they had on their first date, but it was muddy and cold and Delaney insisted on turning around. Bennet agreed and as they headed back he stopped her, got down on one knee, and asked her to marry him. She was in such shock, all she could say was "Are you serious?!" Bennet mentioned that it is traditional to give either a yes or no answer, which of course was a yes. Back inside, her favorite dessert was waiting and they celebrated with champagne.
