Amidst the steady hum of downtown Saint Louis, two souls destined to intertwine met in the unlikeliest of places: an office. Michaela and Kyle’s paths converged when joining the same department and sharing laughter during their office’s Holiday party. From a distance, they seemed like just two more dots in the vast expanse of the corporate world. But destiny has its own design. Beyond work, they began exploring the rich tapestry of Saint Louis, often playing tourists, reveling in the magnificent restaurant and bars the city had to offer, strolling through Forest Park, and discovering hidden gems in a city they thought they knew so well. It was a liberating escapade, where architecture, which once bound them to desks and plans, now offered a new vista to explore together. Their shared admiration morphed into romantic dates, exploring, and critiquing the city’s variety of structures, while finding beauty in the confluence of modern and historical edifices. Two vivid spirits with a penchant in architectural landscape, who see beauty in every nook and cranny of Saint Louis, and often get lost imagining the history of its edifices. When their love began, the music career of Tyler Childers was also taking off. Tyler released his album, Country Squire, which holds the couple’s first dance song, All Your’n. The couple, together, realized their love for the folk artist and to this day still listen and dance often to this album and the others that came since. Fast forward a few years, the couple attended their first concert of his, June 9th, 2023 – where Michaela thought that was the night, she was going to be popped the question. Leaving that night, a bit confused, sharing conversations of frustration with her mother and sister – little to know that the question was planned to be asked the very next day at the Botanical gardens. At the beginning, the couple had a shared hesitance to enter a relationship, especially being coworkers, but it’s certain it was palpable. The stakes were high then. Yet, every stolen glance, every shared smile, and every resonating laughter made them question whether the risk might be worth the reward. April 2019 marked the turning point for the couple. A weekend trip, ostensibly to 'be tourists in their own city', led them to surrender to their feelings. As they walked hand in hand through the streets, parks, and culinary landscape of Saint Louis, it was clear: they were meant to be. Michaela’s apartment became a haven for their shared passions. The sound of Tyler Childers echoed through the walls, as they danced in their socks, Milo, their adorable 8-year-old dog, playfully nipping at their heels. Those evenings, wrapped up in blankets, with Milo nestled between them, became the moments they cherished most. The love that blossomed in the heart of Saint Louis led them to take bolder steps together. In June 2021, Kyle moved into Michaela’s apartment, ready to make it their own. Every piece of furniture, every fixture, reflected their shared dreams and aspirations. A year later, they moved into their first home together, a place where they envisioned making their own, starting a family and remaining nestled in the City. Today, as they look back, they realize that sometimes, love doesn't need grand gestures or dramatic backdrops. Sometimes, love is in the mundane, in shared laughter, in mutual respect, and in a beautiful city that watches over two souls finding their way to each other. And as the Saint Louis Arch stands tall, a testament to enduring strength and beauty, so does the love story of Michaela and Kyle. A blueprint of a love that was built to last.
