We rode the train in the fall and it was so peaceful and exciting. Worth the experience to ride!
If you want a fun mountain experience this is a great way to spend it! This is Durango's local and main ski resort. You can do things such as ride the huge slide, take the ski lift to mountain trails, stores to buy merchandise and places to eat. We definitely recommend this because we have experienced doing those activities ourselves and we had so much fun!
There are so many things to do at this lake! Note: there is a fee of $10 per vehicle or $5 per walk/bike. You can go on the Wibbit which is a inflated water park on the lake which costs $5/person, kayak, paddleboard, fish, and many more. There is more information when you click on the link.
This lake requires NO fee! It's about 30-40 minutes away from Durango and there may be weak service, so make sure you download all your good summer songs beforehand. It's a nice getaway from the town.
This lake is about 16 miles northeast of Durango and is about 25-30 minutes away. Same thing again, you can fish, swim, and paddleboard.
One of Durango's favorite tourist attraction because of the great food and drinks options they have! They even have a gluten free beer option. I believe this place is definitely worth your money.
If you didn't know, Joseph and Dee are coffee lovers! We had our first date together here. The environment was so peaceful to enjoy. If you enjoy PLANTS and COFFEE here is the place to be! You can even buy plants, flower bouquets, and pastries.
Before we dated, we met at this coffee shop for a "meeting" to talk about ministry experience yet it became an "unintentional date". (We like to joke it was a set up date from God). We hung out for 7-8 hours that night. We started here then ended our night at Applebees.... (check out the How We Met tab).
I definitely recommend enjoying the Animas river by riding down the river in a raft and getting splashed to cool you down in the heat of summer. I did this for my birthday and it was a fun experience.
This is one of Durango's more easier trails to walk on which runs along the river through the whole town. The whole trail is made of asphalt and is about 7 miles long. You can bike, enjoy your morning coffee or just sit by the river and wade your feet in the water. We definitely recommend a walk on this trail since we love to take date walks together on this trail.
Another coffee shop to enjoy and read a book but it also has other departments within this building which make it a friendly atmosphere for anyone to come in. It has couches and a variety of seating places to sit. Sometimes we like to grab a cup of coffee here before go to church which is just two blocks away.
If you're a chocolate lover and coffee lover then this is the spot to be at! It's smack dab in the middle of downtown and they make their own chocolates at their store! Wow.
Dee used to work at a coffee shop here! The atmosphere is so open and low key. They have good tacos and Japanese food. You can eat anywhere outside or inside.
Highly recommend for a taste of delicious homemade ice cream! They make it in the shop. Fun fact: Dee used to work here for a summer in 2020 and her and Joe had an idea cream “date” before they got together.
