We were first introduced to each other through the Maid of Honor, Rose. She decided to play matchmaker and had us first meet up at a local bar in downtown Summerville. Will showed up late because he had to run by Cook Out for chicken nuggets and he was so excited that they made him "fresh nuggs." LOL We immediately connected and there was an instant chemistry. We spent the next year building our friendship and really learning about each other. Finally after a year, we could not deny the spark that was there and decided to give our relationship a real shot. The rest is history. We spent the next few years building a foundation for ourselves. I finished Nuclear Medicine school while Will worked on advancing in his career. In April of 2021 we purchased our first home together. We moved out with our two cats and very quickly added our two pups into the mix. We have built so many memories together already and have learned so much. We are so happy that you have decided to join us on this next HUGE adventure as we prepare for married life!
William proposed to me on June 12, 2022. I had a feeling that the proposal was coming, though I had convinced myself that it was going to happen on Fourth of July at my grandparents lake house (little did I know that that was exactly what he wanted me to think.) The day started off like any other Sunday. We got up and made breakfast (Will cooked steak and eggs) then we packed up the car and headed to my parents house. We had decided to spend the day hanging out in the pool since we knew we were going out to eat that night for "a late celebration of Tutu's birthday." That was the story I was given anyway. About once a year, we go to downtown Charleston to eat a restaurant called Fleet Landing. It is right next to the pineapple fountain, so we always get VERY dressed up and update our family photos anytime we eat there. So I did not think twice about getting dressed up for dinner. Earlier that week, my mom had tricked me into wearing a white romper for that dinner. I was not suspicious AT ALL! On the way down to "dinner," Will started playing a song called "Take My Name" by Parmalee. I thought it was sweet and ALMOST said "awwww this could be a cute song for us!" but I decided not to! Instead, we just sat in silence and listened to the song. I thought it randomly came on the radio, I did not realize he had played it intentionally! Once we got to the restaurant, Tutu went in "to check on our reservation" and they weren't ready yet. So mom suggested that we just go take our pictures before dinner. So we started walking towards the pineapple fountain and I noticed that Will was pulling me towards the fountain. Next thing I know he points at one of the small pillars and says "what is that?" And there was a sign that said "be my forever heffa?" and BOOM! He was on one knee. After I blacked out for a moment from complete surprise and said "yes!" he pointed out a group of people holding a sign. On the sign, there were lyrics from the song we had just listened to on the car ride. It said "Never felt like this before, take my name and make it yours. I love you, Jade... Talley??" I read the sign and thought it was the sweetest thing! But the sun was so bright, it took me a while to realize that the "big group of people" holding the sign was actually my ENTIRE family and Will's family!! Not only did he pull off that surprise, he had one of my great friends there to photograph the entire thing! And we were able to do an engagement shoot right there on the spot! It was the biggest surprise of my life and EASILY the best day of my life!
