How We Met

7.28.18

Rachel and Peter met at a pool party hosted by Rachel and her roommates, Madi and Marissa. Peter was the new kid in town, having recently moved to Fort Worth from Wisconsin. He had met Logan at church earlier that month and was invited to the pool party. Peter enjoyed meeting some new church friends and agreed to go out two-step dancing later that night (because when in Texas...). Peter lived within walking distance from the dance hall and was en route when Rachel and her friends saw him standing at the corner of the intersection and told him to hop in the car. Peter and Rachel chatted back and forth while Rachel encouraged him out to the dance floor to learn the line dances (not an easy feat). Later in the night, he asked her to dance. After a night of dancing, a group of friends went back to Rachel's apartment to watch a movie, and Peter gladly joined. The night ended around 3am when Peter put on his Crocs and left with the other guys. Who knew a long day together was just the beginning of what will turn into forever!

The Proposal

8.24.19

Peter and Rachel participated in a church musical over the summer. On the last performance day, Peter and Rachel's families were in attendance. Peter told Rachel that they were "magically excused" from tearing down the set because his parents had flown in from Wisconsin. Everyone went to Rachel's apartment where they celebrated Rachel's 25th birthday with presents and cake. Peter and his parents left to "get ready for dinner." Shortly after, Rachel's family left to "go take a nap at the hotel," leaving Rachel alone at her apartment. She was suspicious and also confused as to why, if this was the big day, no one made sure she was dressed and ready. So she decided to go ahead and get fixed up - just in case! After she finished, Rachel received a video text message from Peter announcing the occasion had come, explaining where to find a hidden letter containing love notes under her table, and telling her to be ready in 30 minutes. Rachel was excited and eagerly awaited her ride as she read the notes. Her friend from work picked her up and drove her by a significant date spot and continued on to the Omni Hotel. In the lobby of the hotel, Rachel's parents were waiting to take her up to the 10th floor balcony room. Once Rachel arrived to the balcony, Peter was waiting for her. He expressed his love to her and got down on one knee to ask her to marry him. She gladly said, "Yes!" Her sister, Katie, was hiding in the corner of the balcony taking photos of the moment. Peter and Rachel celebrated their engagement with their families that evening and celebrated with friends the next day.
