Both David and I never would have believed it if a year ago, the Lord told us that this was what he had planned, but the Lord was writing our story before we ever met each other. In July 2021, David took a co-op position in Pittsburgh with two weeks’ notice. He had never been to Pittsburgh, and he knew no one here, but he felt the Lord say “go” so he went. With one month left in his co-op, after seeing adds on YouTube, David went on a dating app for the first time in his life (shout out to Upward)! Within two hours, he matched with me. He got my number, deleted the app, and took me out on a date that Friday. Then David became maybe the first guy ever to not get the second date but still get the girl. Well, not really. We actually planned our second date, but the next day I knew I had to break things off with him. I had a lot of things I needed healing from. And most importantly, I knew the Lord was calling me to follow him before chasing any man. David’s response: to care for me and treat me as a sister in Christ. He sent me a text the next day encouraging as his sister in Christ and saying that he was praying for me and my family through our loss. Upon reading it, my sister said, “That man is gonna make a wonderful husband to someone someday, and we can celebrate that as a body of Christ!” Luckily, that someone is me. We stayed in touch and eventually started dating and now I get to call this beautiful man my fiancé and on April 8th, my husband!
