Both living in Charlotte our whole lives, we probably met somewhere along the way and just didn't know. From Deming's Mom being David's school nurse, to Barclay Downs swim team, and through the halls at Myers Park. We finally met in January of 2014, while both attending NC State, at a lovely and dignified Sigma Pi Fraternity gathering. Who says you can't meet the love of your life at the fratter? From there David mustered the courage to invite Deming to a Valentine's cocktail where he proceeded to talk about the weather. Naturally, Deming was intrigued and with much convincing David invited Deming to formal weekend in Charleston. Coolers were made, tux shoes were thrown off boats, David actually danced and finally asked Deming, "you wanna do this thing?" and how could she resist an invitation like that? Little did we know that was just the beginning!

Six years later, David was originally planning to propose in Portland, Maine. However, he caught wind that Deming was convinced he was going to propose on her birthday, March 15th. Unable to have the surprise ruined and a disappointed girlfriend on her birthday, David shifted gears. After coordinating with friends and family he decided to do it March 6th. When Deming arrived home after work she opens the front door to David on one knee and responds "Oh, we're doing this tonight?" to which he replied, "Yeahhh..." Forgetting everything he was going to say David threw the ring on Deming's finger and took her to Angus Barn, Deming was looking around for friends and family and saw no one. David had to let her know it was just going to be them that night. Deming cried, David ate steak. After a few drinks and Deming managing to use the men's restroom David informed her it was time to go to a new cocktail bar. Little did she know her Mom & Dad, other family and friends were waiting upstairs. Over the next week we bought a puppy, David changed jobs, and a global pandemic ensued, but through all of that we have so enjoyed our quarantine engagement and can't wait to get married September 2021!
