David and Cameron first met on July 16th, 2018, matched online by a now-defunct dating app. While they grew up 4 hours apart in Eastern Texas, the two now found themselves only a short gallop away from each other. On their first date they bonded over their shared love of A Song of Fire and Ice novels and their total disdain of sushi. Having decided those were adequate common interests, the two stayed together through apartment moves, a global pandemic, bad New York theatre, good New York theatre, endless streaming services, plane trips, car trips, train trips, and countless strolls through the parks for three and a half years. It was on one of these park visits that David, after musing that Central Park was much too crowded, led Cameron into a quiet, empty corner of the park by the lake. It was here that David began singing (it’s normal for us) a song from the critically acclaimed musical, The Last Five Years (the happy song!). He then pulled out a ring from his pocket and asked Cameron to marry him. Time stopped, the ducks swam, and the ever present New York saxophone sound flowed from across the water. Despite his surprise (the singing was HUGE hint), Cameron said yes and the rest of the story, as they say, is history.
