Our Story

Our story began with a match on Hinge February 10th, 2020. Despite the initial spark, our first date had to wait until July 10th of that year due to unforeseen circumstances—Amy had returned home to Indianapolis amidst the COVID-19 pandemic to prepare for her Step 1 exam in medical school. Despite the distance, our connection only grew stronger through texts, bonded by our mutual love for sweets and a surprising discovery that we both had childhood ties to the same summer camp. Amy returned to Louisville to begin her third year of medical school. Our first official date took place at Comfy Cow in Louisville. Amy, perpetually fashionably late, kept David waiting for fifteen minutes in his car outside. When she finally arrived, both masked up due to COVID protocols, first impressions were formed— Amy thought, "oh he's cute," while David's first thought was, "oh she's short." Over scoops of their favorite flavors sitting outside, they found themselves lost in conversation for three hours. As darkness fell and the shop closed, Amy faced a logistical challenge. She was unable to re-enter Comfy Cow to reach her car parked on the other side of the outdoor mall. David, ever the mensch, offered to drive her, both maintaining masks out of respect, which, despite their best intentions, prevented a goodbye kiss, leaving them with a humorous memory to cherish. Amy eagerly shared details of their memorable date with her medical school friends, already predicting that David was "endgame." However, she humorously noted to her friends, "everything is perfect except he likes dogs”. Meanwhile, David told his roommates, “Everything is perfect, except she doesn’t like dogs”. Fortunately, Rennie and Ollie both quickly stole Amy’s heart! Their relationship officially began on September 12th, 2020, when David surprised Amy in Madisonville with flowers and cake pops during her surgery rotation. They spent a memorable weekend in Evansville, where they bought 24 different flavors of donuts for just the two of them. After Amy finished medical school, they moved in together in Columbus, Ohio, for her residency, settling into a home with a spacious backyard, ready for their future as dog parents. Join us as we celebrate the next chapter of our love story, from unexpected beginnings to cherished moments that have shaped our lives together. We look forward to sharing our joy with you on our special day! Sincerely, Amy, David, and Chat GPT
