The Wedding Website of David Gold and Elizabeth Case
Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

We want you to feel good and feel like you look good! Our guidelines are "festive wedding attire". Funky festive wedding attire is acceptable, as is festive flannel wedding attire. We really just want you to come dressed in whatever makes you feel the best! Bring layers that will keep you warm and comfortable, as autumn nights in the Catskills can get chilly (the weather could be ~60-80F during the day, and 30-50F at night). Folks thinking about heels - the grass can be quite soft if wet, so we recommend flats, sneakers, wedges, or chunky heels instead of stilettos.

Question

I've noticed you are avoiding gendered nouns. Can you explain more?

Answer

Elizabeth is genderfluid, and we want our celebration to reflect their identity. Moreover, so much of the history of marriage and the wedding industry is designed around and for a very specific kind of femininity. Instead of gendered nouns (e.g., bride, groom, bridal party, maid of honor, etc), we are working out a set of shared language that is inclusive, generous, and representative of our love. Please avoid using the word bride to reference Elizabeth. Instead, we prefer "partner", "wedding couple", or, simply, Dave and Elizabeth.

Question

Why Bovina?

Answer

Spruce Lake Farm started as a one-room cabin. Elizabeth's maternal grandparents, Poppy and Joy, bought the cabin in the 1980s and slowly expanded it over the following years. Elizabeth and her family spent many summers out in Bovina, catching frogs on the dock and exploring the pine forest. The house and land has been in the family ever since, and is now run by Adam Slote (Elizabth's uncle) as a beautiful upstate getaway.

Question

We don't have a car, can we still get around?

Answer

For transportation to and from NYC, we will try to connect guests with each other and carpool on Friday and Saturday, and for the return. Look out for a carpool spreadsheet coming soon. There is also a bus that goes from NYC to Delhi, NY, and we can arrange for someone to pick you up from there. Getting around Bovina/upstate New York is trickier. If you aren't planning to rent a car, we would recommend you stay at one of the hotels in Oneonta, as there will be a shuttle to and from these hotels to the venue. If this isn't possible for you for any reason, let us know and we can try to help you figure something out!

Question

What is the address for the wedding?

Answer

Spruce Lake Farm, 2391 Scutt Mountain Road, Bovina Center, NY 13740

Question

Are babies/toddlers/kids allowed?

Answer

Yes! By all means! There will be a good number of children there, ages 1-16. We'll make sure there is a crib and play area set up inside, and try to connect all the parents ahead of time.
