Our Story: A Story of Love and Laughs...A Lot of Laughs

March 11th, 2012

Melissa's Version: We met at church, Darian's mom, Angie, introduced us. Before introducing us she asked, "Do you have a boyfriend??!!!" Laughingly, I replied no. Then she told Darian to come down to meet me. Little did I know I was meeting the love of my life. He came to me all embarrassed and all I could do was laugh because I was so nervous and shy. To this day Darian said I was laughing in his face I wasn't I just didn't know how to react. We shared the most awkward handshake ever. It wasn't until the following week at church that we started talking and he apologize for how awkward his mom made the situation. I thought it was the cutest thing ever. After a few shared looks and friendly smiles, he finally asked for my number and I said "Sure!" I never expected that my soulmate was basically within 30 feet of me every Sunday. Crazy how things turn out. Darian's Version: It all started when my mom was telling me about this girl that would be perfect for me. I was reluctant at first because what guy lets their mom set them up? I've seen that turn into a disaster one too many times, but I finally relented and agreed to meet this mystery girl. I remember that Sunday we met. Bishop Bennett told everyone to get up and greet each other. I was in the musician's stand and I saw my mom talking to this girl. Out of everyone in the church I heard her ask this girl, "Do you have a boyfriend?!!!" Then she told me to come down and meet this mystery woman. I came down all embarrassed and nervous. But little did I know that I was being introduced to the woman I was destined to be with. Melissa was this mystery woman. I was excited and nervous to meet her even if she was laughing at me the whole time. We had this weird handshake. I thought the whole situation was awkward and embarrassing. When I saw her again the following week at church, I apologized for how embarrassing and awkward my mom had made everything. She laughed and said it was okay. From there we started to talk and realized we had so much in common. I finally was able to ask for her number, which I knew she wanted to give me anyway. At the time I didn't realize that she would become the love of my life and the future Mrs.W!!
