Traditions

As we come together as a family, we are glad to incorporate a few traditions from each of our backgrounds. Jumping the broom - Jumping the broom is a traditional act performed at some African American weddings. After vows are exchanged, the newlyweds hold hands and jump over a broom to seal the union. Filipino Money Dance - Male guests line up in front of the bride to pin money on her dress while the women pin money on the groom. The pinning can get creative with bills pinned together as garlands, made into crowns, or streaming down their clothing. This “decorating” can take a while if there are a lot of dancers, and guests take turns dancing with the bride and groom. Please bring cash if you wish to participate. We don't accept Venmo lol.
