Daniel and Sophia met when we were attending Sammamish High School in Bellevue, Washington. After spending a few years as close friends, they soon realized that no matter who they dated or what each other's futures held, they'd end up together. A strong and sincere friendship soon blossomed into a romance and right away they knew it would last forever.

While Sophia was working in Wisconsin and they were upholding a long-distance relationship, Daniel was secretly planning a proposal of a lifetime. He contacted all of his and Sophia's family and friends and informed them of a specific weekend he was planning to get down on one knee. During what was described as Daniel's mother Mari's "birthday weekend," behind the scenes Daniel was planning to pop the question during the event. All the while, Sophia planned to "surprise" her family and make the trip home that weekend. When she arrived, she thought she was one step ahead of her family, while they were holding back smiles of excitement. As Sophia's family ensured she wore something lovely and that her nails were freshly painted, Sophia went along with her day as if it was just another family gathering. However, when they arrived to the dock at Lombardi's Italian Restaurant in Everett on September 2nd, during a regular photo opp, Daniel turned slowly and to Sophia's shock, got down on one knee and asked her the golden question. And of course, she said yes!
