Mass MOCA is the inspiration for our wedding weekend in North Adams. One of our first day trips was to this contemporary art museum built out of a collection of 19th-century mill buildings. It's an incredible space and a must see if you like art or architecture.
This brewery is located on the MASS MoCA campus, which makes for a perfect stop before or after visiting the museum.
There are quite a few great hikes that go up and/or around Mt. Greylock, which is Massachusetts' highest peak. Click the link below to view a great guide on various hiking options - and note that you'll want to browse through the year-round trails to choose a route, not the seasonal ones.
The Cascades trail is a short, beautiful river walk following the Notch Brook in North Adams to a popular cascading waterfall. Accessible from the parking lot of the YMCA, the whole journey should only take about an hour and a half round trip. The trailhead can be hard to find so please check out the link below for the access details via AllTrails.
Hot dogs are a very important food group. Check 'em out if you agree!
A great lunch or dinner spot, located within Western Gateway Heritage State Park, which is a former rail yard and a part of North Adams' history.
