Rosa and Adrie met in the fall of 2014 during Harvard Crimson Dance Team tryouts, when Adrie was a fun-loving freshman and Rosa was a sage sophomore. What Rosa first noticed about Adrie was her bright neon blue top and enthusiastic hip hop freestyle. What Adrie first noticed about Rosa was her infectious laugh and easygoing nature. Over the next few years Adrie and Rosa became good pals, with a stint as big and little in Theta. Rosa captained CDT in her junior year, and mentored Adrie in preparation for captaincy, patiently reminding her for a month straight to organize the Harvard Yale t-shirt fundraiser (which Adrie nearly tanked with her procrastination). In Rosa’s senior year, they became even closer through daily post-practice breakfast in Adams dining hall, late night study sessions (also in Adams dining hall), and organizing CDT parties with increasingly silly themes. During this year, they realized there was a bit more than friendship developing between them. Eventually, Adrie worked up the courage to kiss Rosa at a party in the Pfoho Bell tower. Rosa and Adrie then began to spend even MORE time together, and soon their friendship love turned into love love. When Rosa graduated in 2017, she moved to Orlando for a job opportunity in engineering. At that time she and Adrie took some space (and drove all of their mutual friends crazy), but came back together in September of 2018. This reconnection occurred just a few months after Adrie had graduated and moved to Cusco, Peru to work for a non-profit—naturally an ideal time to rekindle a relationship. But since then the pair have never looked back and knew that they were meant to be together forever. Through hours of calls and falling asleep on FaceTime together countless times, they grew even closer despite the thousands of miles between them. Not to mention the necessity for international rendezvous in places like Machu Picchu and Bogota made for very romantic reunions. By the time Adrie moved back to the US in August 2019, Rosa and Adrie were old hacks at long distance and the FL to NJ commute was a piece of cake. Adrie supported Rosa through her Masters in aerospace engineering, and Rosa supported Adrie through her arduous medical school application process. Once Adrie was accepted to Columbia, Rosa left her job at the Kennedy Space Center and relocated to CT in order to be closer to her sweetheart. This move was a dream come true for the couple, as they were finally just an hour drive apart rather than a multi-hour plane ride. Over the next few years, Adrie and Rosa frequently made the trip between NYC and Milford, CT. They saw dozens of broadway shows, ate many lobster rolls, and took countless sunset walks on the Milford beach. Rosa supported Adrie through her grueling clinical year, frequently making impromptu trips to NYC to give Adrie a big hug after particularly difficult days. After fantasizing about getting married for several years, Rosa proposed to Adrie on April 1, 2023 (the choice of date definitely kept Adrie on her toes!). Rosa pulled off a surprise proposal consisting of a scavenger hunt around NYC involving places that are meaningful to the couple, with friends and family waiting for Adrie at each stop. It was the best day of Adrie’s life. But Rosa was not the only one with a surprise proposal in the works! Because Rosa loves escape rooms, Adrie created a custom escape room in which all the puzzles were related to meaningful moments in their relationship. At the end, Adrie proposed to Rosa and reaffirmed her willingness to marry her. After several years of long distance, Rosa and Adrie finally moved in together in February of 2024. They have been basking in domestic bliss and the joy of creating a shared space together. They spend much of their time diligently planning a beautiful wedding from their brand new Bob-o-pedic couch, which is now one of their favorite places in the world. They are beyond excited to celebrate their love with you all.
