While Kendall and Dan met in Charlotte, their love story didn't begin until Boston, some two years later. As with many people who worked for EY, Kendall and Dan both traveled to Charlotte for business. On different projects for the same client, they occasionally crossed paths but didn't know each other well. Kendall was traveling from Dallas, and Dan was traveling from San Francisco. Unfortunately, given the grueling coast-to-coast weekly travel, Dan gained 30 pounds before they met (American Airline's first class ice cream sundaes didn't help). Considering the circumstances, it makes sense they were just friends. To be relieved of the travel, Dan moved back to Boston in Summer 2017. A year later, Kendall moved to Boston. While some say she moved for a change of scenery and an opportunity at work, the series of events led many to believe it was to be with Dan. By this point, Dan had lost the 30 pounds, which only lends credence to this theory. Either way, Dan was excited that a beautiful girl was moving to town. Knowing Boston well, he quickly became her tour-guide. For example, he took her on a personal day-trip to Salem in October 2018 (she thought a large group was going, but Dan had other ideas in mind). Dan was also very welcoming when Kendall's best friend came from Texas, showing them some of the best restaurants and bars in town. Dan knew Kendall would want some time to settle in, so he waited a few months before making his first move. A couple more adventures in Boston, one first date in Cambridge, and Dan had it locked down.
