This colony is estimated at 1.5 million Mexican free-tail bats. Each night the Austin Bats emerge from under the bridge as they head out to forage for food. This nightly event is considered the most spectacular and unusual tourist attraction in Austin Texas.

In the heart of Austin is the Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail at Lady Bird Lake, a 10-mile scenic loop that offers stunning views of Downtown Austin and the famous Lady Bird Lake and Colorado River that bisects the city. Great for sightseeing, running, biking, or getting from one part of town to another on a tranquil and convenient route. You can park at various spots throughout the loop and walk some (or all) of the trail.
